The Sweetwater Singers were originally founded in 2002 as the Douglas County Chamber Singers under the direction of Vickie Orme. The Singers are a 40+ voice choir that performs a wide range of choral pieces throughout Douglas County, Georgia. Over the years, we have matured into a dynamic and talented choral group
The Sweetwater Singers value diversity in our community, lifelong singing, eclectic artistic style, and excellence in leadership, administration, and performance. Our mission is to engage in choral excellence through passionate performance. We are honored to have become a highly regarded and recognized musical voice throughout the county.
Our annual performance season is comprised of two scheduled concerts – a Christmas concert and a Spring concert. From time to time we also perform at other community events, such as singing at “Christmas in the Courthouse,” the 17th Annual Holiday Concert of the U.S. Army Ground Forces Band of Fort McPherson, the Veteran’s Health Fair at Arbor Place Mall, an Evening of Giving at Arbor Place Mall and at the Hydrangea Festival. We were honored to sing Mozart’s Requiem, conducted by John Rutter, at Carnegie Hall in June 2007 and in Vienna.
We are a satellite of the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County.
